Home again! Preparing to go to sleep by Bleach (not Beach) and I just thought I'd say Hi
:-). I saw a frozen lake while flying over St. Louis today. It was beautiful. Pretty mellow and that's how the rest of the day went. It was a welcome departure from Friday night/Saturday morning; rushing from Terminal to Terminal @ JFK, AirTrain hopping betwixt said Terminals, then running to catch a bus to LaGuardia. In retrospect the detour to my Mom in NY was, perhaps, not the best thing to do. And definitely my decision to leave there @ 12 a.m. to go to the airport wasn't the brightest idea. My flight was at 8 a.m.
Providentially God took care of me and I hit all my connections, hooked up w/ some interwebs @ the JetBlue Terminal (thanks to Leo pointing this out), had a very re-affirming conversation with a certain JFK security guard about obedience, blessings and God, and generally calmed down instead of worrying about the minutia of what happens once I get out of DAY. You see my phone's battery is dead and there was a car in the carpark I needed to find (and did). Did I mention that I left my phone charger in Jamaica? Yeah, lost it with my ride when heading into Kingston. Ah well, C'est la vie.
Speaking of Kingston, Camp KDE in Negril was great. Met some KDE contributors, went to some talks, interrupted some tutorials (eheh :-D) and generally had myself a smashing good time. Found some pretty good Jerk Pork too (hey, I dig the pig). It was kinda like IRC with real people (I kid you not). And a beach. That had cold water; although I've been "corrected" multiple times by the Europeans and some Americans on this point, I refuse to give in.
There were also many photo ops, a failed interview attempt and a lot (relatively speaking) of work on KDE/Mac. The result is a PortGroup for cmake and kde4 in macports and KDE 4.2 portfiles, which should be ready as soon as 4.2.0 is officially announced. People on the kde-mac mailing list are talking too. All in all I'd say it's been a productive week but I've had too much fun to say that with a straight face :-D
Oh yeah, my boy Guillermo wants to set up some KDE Mexico coolness. Help out if ya can!
P.S. I actually did do that key signing thing G.
In conclusion, I leave you with a quote from M. Stefan Castinelli
I've always thought that each one of us has a specific gift; you can't choose these kinds of things, but sometimes you are chosen," "The problem is that a lot of people are scared by 'the calling.' Sometimes we aren't able to listen to our deep voice and we choose to go on forgetting what we really are. This is bad. I think we're born to realize ourselves.
